You are right.Antonio Meucci came up with the original reliably working device [or at the very least, the person with the earliest documents, signed & witnessed] that converted sound vibrations into an electric signal, which needed tranmission power from a battery made of alternating plates of dissimilar metal plates placed on either end of the transmission wires.AlexSlander Fuckin Bell stole the invention from Meucci, and not too many people apparently ever heard of Meucci.
